Does anyone know proper wire colors for wiring in new stereo. Previous attempt drained battery and made wipers in operable. Stereo was wired for power when ignition was off which I believe was a mistake. Please help in you have good info, thanks!

Radio color code:

1. Brown connect to Earth
2. Red/Green connect to fuse No.14
3. Blue/Red connect to switch/Automatic antenna

Most aftermarket stereos have a yellow wire which is supposed to be hot at all times so you don't lose the pre-sets and other settings. Then there is a red wire that should have power when the ignition is in ACC or Run. Usually the black wire is ground, blue for the antenna, and yellow for the light dimming.

Just replaced the hu in my 83' 380SL last summer. I bought the adapter from crutchfield and it worked perfectly. I just connected the hu to the adapter and speakers with insulated spade connectors. Worked perfect!
