Name This part please
Hi
This is our first post. We just purchased a 1975 450 sl with 108,000 miles. The electrical lead to the air cleaner was was disconnected. When i reattached this lead the engine became very rough and stalled. We had a tough time getting the car running again until i disconnected the lead. What does this part do and what trouble shooting procedures should i follow. We don't have any manuals for the car as of yet. Thanks Bob and Doreen |

Bob, that is the intake air temp sensor. Part number is 001-542-88-17. The resistance value at 70degF is 300ohm. IF the car runs rough with this connected, the fuel system is running too lean!!

Thanks for your reply. I ohmed the sensor and it is about 300 @ 70 Deg. How can I richen the mixture to make this car run better, or should this be left to a pro? Thanks again Bob & Doreen |
