r129 hardtop : replacing rear window & trim

So, my hardtop has a cracked rear window... I just picked up another hardtop in good shape... The only thing is that the trim does not match up (my car has goldish trim, and the new top has black trim)... Therefore I have 2 options - either swap the window into my existing top, or swap the gold trim (and nicer headliner) onto the new top...

Has anyone done these jobs before?

- what is involved in replacing the rear window?
- what is involved in replacing the trim pieces?
- what is involved in replacing the headliner?

Kind of unusual request,,,, but neverless,,, ask a glass shop about swapping the glass and trim, and the headliner might just have to be figured out. The gold trim, by the way, was black at one time. After many hours in the sun, all of the older Mercedes trim turns gold.

hmm, very interesting statement about the trim losing color... why does it happen and how long does it take? my car's paint looks real good as if it's been garaged for a good part of its life, so it makes me wonder why all trim is that color... here's a picture to give you an idea of what it looks like...

I have asked that question about the trim color before, but no one seems to have an idea. It appears to be a deliberate move by Mercedes but have no idea why. The top for my SL has seen weather very few times and the trim on the top is still very black,,,, noticeably darker than the rest of the car.
