Question Removing soft top on 1976 450SL

I have a 1976 450SL that needs some work on the top liner. This will require that I remove the soft top from the frame. I've looked in the manuals and on the CD with no luck. I would appreciate it if someone could offer some guidance on how to do this. Thanks!

Ive removed my 74 soft top to replace the canvas (next time I follow the board advice and do it in situ) and it was very simple. the only connection is a hinge at either side. as i remember there were 4 bolts in the base of each hinge and variable shims under each one. make sure you have a magnetic pick up tool as the hole under the hinge goes all of the way to the floorboards. The only tricky bit was the chrome cover which had one 8 or 10mm bolt hidden on the inside of one of the cutouts. there were 2 or 3 screws (obvious) on the outside
cheers
