Am I in the right place

The hard top will not lock down, the soft top will not go up?
I put the soft top up half way to shade the baby then turned of the car. Turned on the car put the soft top down drove home then. I found I could not put the soft top up or lock the hard top down what have I done?

You are in the right place. Use the forum search and look for soft top controller. It's a very common issue. It will help if you include the year of your vehicle when you post, because there are 3 different versions of the control system used over the 12 years that 129's were built.

I suggest that you can read, erase, and re-read diagnostic codes as explained here: http://www.benzworld.org/forums/r129-sl-class/1266535-diagnostics-sl-pre-94-a.html? Because your car was made before 1994 you will need nothing more than a paper clip or wire. On your car the diagnostic socket for the top is #10.

I got your PM. You have to read a code before you can erase it. So, you first use the paper clip or wire to short #10 socket for 3 seconds, read the code, and within a few seconds repeat the short for 7 seconds. Repeat until all codes are erased.
