CAN'T FIND BLACK ADHESIVE WEATHER STRIP TAPE
HI, ON MY 560 THERE ARE SEVERAL PLACES WHERE THIS BLACK ROUGH TAPE HAS BEEN APPLIED. I THINK IT IS FOR REDUCING THE WEAR ON THE WEATHER STRIPPING.
MY TWO MAIN LOCATIONS ARE ON THE WINDSHIELD FRAME WEATHER STRIP WHERE THE PASSENGER WINDOW COMES UP AGAINST IT. AS YOU CAN SEE THEY ARE IN SAD SHAPE. HAS ANY ONE FOUND A SOURCE FOR THIS TAPE? |

I bookmarked this page when someone else on this forum noted that this could replace that tape:

Wondering if the local fabric store or someplace like Hobby Lobby might have something.
I will check next time I go to the "Big City" I have new A pillar seals for the 560 but they are aftermarket without the fabric. Thanks DanielG |

Hi, Daniel, Do I understand that this fabric is original to the pillar seals and not a repair??
I found a source of tape near me . I got a sample roll today, Matte finish Gaffers Tape, but have not tried it out yet. I need to find what will remove the original tape with out damaging the rubber. Any suggestions? J. |

I used a black fabric tape called Duve tape. I found it by the roll on the web. It is a felt material with adhesive back. Cut to size. "The Tape Works" is a source.

sorry -- I am not an expert here, but -- I would carefully peel it back as well as possible and then use a goof off product-- Afta (I think) --to get all of the adhesive. Then when its all clean and dry apply the new tape. I am certain that the one I pointed out is not OEM -- but another poster (months ago?) said that this was close. The tape is original though -- it is not a repair
Just my 2 cents -- I would wait for others on this board to chime in.
