1991 300sl starting problem, fuel gauge drops to zero intermittantly
I have replaced the intake air sensor, fixed a loose vacuum hose to the breather tube to the cam cover, no air leaks to the air filter. But starting it is slow. you have to crank and crank and I noticed the fuel gauge drop from 3/4 to zero for a half second, then nurse it to run, after you can get it to 1000-2000rpm it'll run better but still stumble at low rpm.Idles smooth. Once it hits 3000rpm it'll run great.
Any ideas?? |

Without much detail, it sound like you have a leaking accumulator and it takes the pump a while to build enough pressure to get fuel to the cylinders.
The accumulator is back near the fuel pump by the RR wheel.
