Hmmm...Big Block in 107?
http://evansville.craigslist.org/ctd/1441367239.html
not exactly what I'd be interested in, but the builder definitely solved the problems in oil pan and steering clerances, by putting in a Corvette subframe. I would think that a Camaro's subframe would also work. BTW: When the 1967 Camaro was designed, the GM designers looked at the W113 SL for subframe experience.

I hope with the addition of the Corvette brakes that they improved the stopping power from stock.
The wheels suck, as does the hood, but that HP from a 396 in a SL would be fun for a bit.

What a Waste!
Fiscally, this is one of the dumbest things I've seen in some time.
From a strictly money and time spent aspect he could have built himself a really nice 190sl and had a car that actually appreciated in value! Esthetically they have ruined this car! I can only hope the builder either learns his lesson about bastardizing 2 classics, or that he's out of money and can't do this to any other worthwhile cars. Just my 2 cents, Steve |

There exist a few R107's with 6.9 liter M-100 motors, one with the correct hydraulic suspension too.

For what it is, I think the car is reasonably priced, and that engine could hardly get worse gas mileage than what was in it in the first place!

I wish you guys could make your points about the car without trashing the people. I think the comment about going "straight to hell" is offensive.

One of the best things I read was down in the bottom of the ad. "Had spotlights (Foglights?) but they looked stupid so we took them off". And that hood scoop looks what? Uber-cool?

Considering a 396 has the potential, if built properly, to surpass the TQ of a 454 and is a little lighter, I would agree with you on this!

I have no problem with modifying an SL in good taste.
This example lacks that. And what does the statement "2293 ever made!" refer to?

I've got a rough 81 380SL that someone installed a Chevy 350/350 driveline into and the hood is unmodified.

A 350 is a lot smaller than a 396.
