Remove,Replace Rear Mounts 560sl W/PICS

I looked on Benz World and this site,I found some write-ups
on Rear Subframe Mounts 560sl,but no PICS,so I decided to
do my own.I LIKE PICTURES,NO MISTAKES AND SAVES TIME.
So here goes,Tools,11/16 and 15/16,1/2" sockets,1/2"
or 17mm and 23 mm and a long Breaker Bar,GOOD Claw
Hammer and a crowbar.1.Jack it up HIGH,more room
to move and wiggle.2.Take out main bolt in middle of mount.
Then take the two small ones on the Mount Cover. Before you
remove the mounts, mark them in relation to putting them
back in or take a picture.3.Take your claw hammer and
start prying on one side and then the other, then go all the
way around and do the same thing,It will come out in about
ten minutes.Look at pictures!!!I can only put 5 pictures up
so look on next thread for continuation.

Paratroop- Thanks. That's an upcoming project, how difficult is it to get the new installed? Maybe I'll just take it to Bragg and kick it out of a 130.

R&R Rear Subframe Mounts(Puttin the new ones IN)

Just got back from the test ride,no squirming on tight turns,
no clunks,no thunks,really rides nice.Just like a new one.
Ok here's the finish,1.Clean out the nasty hole with drill
and wire brush, let the frame drop down so you can get your
fingers up over the frame, take out old donut, put new one in.
2.Spray silicone spray on the inside of the mount hole and on
the Mount.Put your jack up there with a piece of 2/4,before
you jack it in,MAKE SURE one side of the concave side of the
mount is lined up to the two tits on one side of the hole.If
those two tits aren't sitting on the inside of concave side the
mount isn't going in.If you are sure they are there, jack it in.
When the car lifts up its almost in.3.I put a prybar up the hole
to see how close I was, this one was lucky I was right on,put
the .50 Cal.Bolt up there also and checked to see if it would
tighten,it did.Then I put on new washer on the .50 Cal.Bolt
got the cover and tightened it up and used the new short
bolts with new washers.Buttoned it back up.
Other side I had a little trouble lining up the Sub Frame
with the hole,so I used a crow bar and lined it up.Best thing
to Remember is before you try to bolt everything up,try to
get the .50 Cal Bolt to tighten up 1st, saves a ton of time.
On a scale of difficulty(1-10)1 being the lowest this was
about a 4 or 5.At 65 now,I don't think I will doing this again
any time soon!

That was another excellent write up Paratroop, with great pics and superb step-by-step. I needed that as I am in the process of overhauling the rear subframe, differential, axle shafts, bushes, mounts, etc but will remove the subframe from the car, sand blast it, including trailing arms and give it a good respray paint job, then assemble all as per your how-to. It comes really very timely. Many thanks for your time in posting these jobs you are doing from which I for one, will certainly benefit. Kudos to you!!
