Dwell on the DJet -72

So on Pearl I am goign to clean /check trigger points. Seems like last time I did this I set the timing using timing light ( and my ear ) , but I seem to recall having trouble with setting dwell using my meter. This is an old meter , certainly from the 70's and it is calibrated and working properly ( heathkit!)
Is there something in this Djet setup that would prevent using a dwell meter?
I think I ended up setting points at .014??

Make sure the distributor goes back where it was if you pull it!

I think the 0.014 is what I used to use too for the points.

To connect the dwell meter, you connect from the green wire terminal to ground. Or so the picture I took tells me! I have an old dwell meter too. It is also supposed to read rpm, but I never got that to work on the D-Jet setup.

Seriously, for under $100 install a Pertronix. It eliminates one variable. I use it with the MB switchbox. Someday I will by-pass that too.

You won't get a reading if connected to the coil. You need to connect as previous person described.Mine has a little terminal sticking out, clip dwell meter lead to that. You should get RPM this way as well.Setting is 32-34 degrees per my manual.
