touching up dash strip

In my 85 280SL Euro there is a narrow cloth strip of material between the dash and the windshield that has pretty well bleached out from the sun over the years. My dash is black and I would like to touch up this strip with black but it is very difficult if not impossible to get to it with a black marker of any kind. Has anyone devised a way to re-dye this cloth strip withour getting everything else like the glass and dash black?

Some one suggested using a large syringe (available at most farm stores) with plastic tubing. Fill the syringe with black dye and carefully apply to the strip. Might try masking the dash to avoid staining.
