How do you "register" your vintage MB with MBUSA?

I surfed the net to find more info regarding the recall campaigns affecting the 107 sub frame, and, in the course of events, joined another forum. While there, I was advised to " register your 107 with MBUSA, so you can collect copies of all service work previously performed and identify any recalls for which your car may still be eligible."

I asked about registration, but never got an answer.

Does anyone here know about the registration process, and about obtaining records of past service work performed?

Thanks

I've never heard of such registration and I rather doubt MB archived service records on cars from so long ago. But if they did, I'd be very interested myself.

Call 1-800-FOR-MERC(EDES) and give them your VIN as well as your personal information. They can advise you if there are any open recalls. They also have access to the VMI (vehicle maintenance information), but that only gives information about work done while the car was under warranty and it is very likely that older cars (like early 80's and back) may not be in the system. They won't give you the VMI, but may tell you a little about your car if you catch them in a good mood. :) Dealers also have access to the VMI, but MBUSA does not allow them to give it out anymore, but if you've got a good relationship with someone at the dealership, you may be able to at least read it and take copious notes. Some will still even print it out for you.

VMI = vehicle master inquiry.

As Len posts, the only maintenance records thereon are performance of recalls, campaigns, and maybe DTBs. Also replacement of parts under warranty.

No record of oil changes, etc., nor out-of-warranty work other than recalls/campaigns. MBUSA does not monitor this, as of course they aren't paying for it.

A print-out would be fine.

Thanks,
Len,

You can't register a vintage Mercedes, as their records of VINs doesn't go back far enough.

You can if you call them at 1-800-FOR-MERC(EDES). My '59 is registered with them.
