Soft Top light keeps chiming?
Hi Guys, Phil Here. Recently when I attempt to raise my Soft top, I find that the top raises and locks properly but the Red light and Chime stay on when I attempt to drive away? I have raised and lowered the top quite a few times and I still get the same scenario,
Anybody have any clues? Thanks in advance. 1992 Sweet 500 SL Phil Justice |

This does get confusing being the SL Forum. Your 380SL R107 is a totally different animal from his '92 R129. 107 production ended in 1989. 129 began with the 1990 model year and was still called ???SL. Later it became the SL???.
Your lever works the front latches on the soft top and the front and side latches on the hard top. No fancy warning buzzers and lights on the 107. |

I probably don't have a controller to reset either, do it?

The soft top controller needs to be reset / clear error codes. You can build a simple switch tool to do this yourself. Do a forum search on the soft top controller. This happens from time to time on this early model controller and it's a good idea to keep the procedure ( instructions ) and the tool in the glove box. Low battery voltage or changing the battery can cause this problem.
