Soft Top light keeps chiming?

Hi Guys, Phil Here. Recently when I attempt to raise my Soft top, I find that the top raises and locks properly but the Red light and Chime stay on when I attempt to drive away? I have raised and lowered the top quite a few times and I still get the same scenario,

Anybody have any clues? Thanks in advance.

What do you mean by your "Allen Top tool?" I have acquired a 380SL missing all its tools and I have gotten one tool for the hardtop, is there a specific size Allen wrench to keep handy?

Thanks

This does get confusing being the SL Forum. Your 380SL R107 is a totally different animal from his '92 R129. 107 production ended in 1989. 129 began with the 1990 model year and was still called ???SL. Later it became the SL???.

Your lever works the front latches on the soft top and the front and side latches on the hard top. No fancy warning buzzers and lights on the 107.

I know this is old hat to some, But my 500 sl 1991 the top stops half way up,and it stops firm. This is the first I time tried to use it this year. During the winter I replaced battery, replaced both window motors. Every thing on this car is in good condition owned it since new. The hard top released with out a problem went back on with no problem fuse are find. it did go up but only 1/2 way.
I need help.
Thanks Angelo

The soft top controller needs to be reset / clear error codes. You can build a simple switch tool to do this yourself. Do a forum search on the soft top controller. This happens from time to time on this early model controller and it's a good idea to keep the procedure ( instructions ) and the tool in the glove box. Low battery voltage or changing the battery can cause this problem.
