Oil Cooler / Flow

I am having to machine up my own Filter Housing, as the stock one is broke off. Yes I know I could replace the timing cover, but honestly I like machining up my own stuff from time to time on my Mill.

I have made a Clean cut in the housing exposing the 2 oil galleys (in / out).

My question is dealing with the direction of the Flow.

Is the center most (e.g. closest to the center of the engine) the Return, or is the Outer galley (e.g. closest to the steering pump) the Return.

One other small question is dealing with the oil cooler. Mine was missing so I am not sure where the To / From line on the Water side are Feed / Returned.
