There are at least a couple of us on the forum... I'm from far enough down state that I talk funny.

I'm about a hundred miles SE of St Louis.

Glad to see you made it over from ETK.

This is definitely the place to be if you have SL questions.

I'm originally from the very northern part of the state, and people here think that I talk funny...

We drew the line at 95th Street - anything further south was "downstate"...

I live in Batavia, and I have a 77 sl that I take to shows in the area almost weekly in the summer. One show that I like to go to takes place in Geneva during July and August that meets on Thursdays 6-8 pm behind the old court house off of third street. That show is nice because the people who show up appreciate all types of older and classic cars. Some shows are not as receptive of anything but American cars. Mlroadshow.net has a schedule of small shows that are around the Aurora area that are nice as well, especially the ones at the North Aurora A&W on 31. Mark is the name of the guy who runs those shows and he encourages all kinds of cars to show up as well.

Obviously I was waaaay too optimistic. I always thought downstate began in Kankakee.

Heck, we're only 70 miles from Paducah, KY.

Illinois members

Thanks everyone for your help, I sent some replies back, and some private messages. I don't quite have the hang of how this system works yet, but I hope my messages got to you one way or the other. Thanks again for your help. Just looking for Mercedes Benz company at the Chicago area car shows.

All of a sudden everyone is Mike Royko?

I grew up in Champaign -- which is downstate, but not Southern Illinois (at least to us).

I have visited Chicago twice and was once engaged to a woman from there.
I have also, yawn, driven accross southern Illinois. Does that count for anything?
