Here's a vacuum diagram. May have to scroll through post to find your year.

vacuum diagrams

thanks for the link and reply i looked thru the vac diagrams and found nothing remotely related to the engine compartment vac system this is a 1984 380sl 107045/ 116962 engine and i am tring to determine where the aux air valve is on this car. most of the diagrams delt with the climate control sytems. many thanks! this car has the cis fuel injection system. it has a idle control module, ecm and a lamda module.

Hmmm. Yes, I'm familiar with the Kjet with lambda as I have an '82 which I've replaced all the vacuum lines on. Link should have taken you to post 23 which includes 3 vacuum diagrams, including the one for that car.

That failing, I recommend purchasing a CD 107 manual which will have everything you need including photos (poor) of the engine bay or purchasing a paper 116 engine manual which has the same information. Either can regularly be found on ebay. I'd recommend MBUSA as a source, but it seems they're no longer available there.

The AAV should be at the front of the engine in the middle. It has an electrical connection at the back.. PN is 000 141 12 25. It looks like this and is not cheap. It can usually be cleaned if stuck.

yes we have spark and fuel at the cold start valve trys to hit but will never take off. wont even run with a little dab of either. do you know what part no. is on the intake vacuum schematic it is listed as item #100 has vacuum line and i wire to the divice grounded thru the block or intake? my buddy says it is a vacuum problem i say it can be started by bypassing all the electronics except the coil circuit spray a little gas into the plenum and it shold run for a few seconds. i have done this to my 77 450sl, any help will be greatly appreciated. a block diagram of trouble shooting steps would be nice.

The only time my '82 quit on me I was on the freeway, coasted to an exit and parked it, towed it home, and then found that I had a bad coil, which took out the ignition control module. The coil was partially shorted internally, found it by swapping it out. You have to be careful with the coil replacments, different years use different coils due to the varying igniton control module designs - some use a 6v coil, some a 12v coil.

so far we have replaced rhe ecm, lamda, idle control module and coil new plugs wires and dist, coil it has a vac line at the back of the engine but cant see where it goes. my buddy says it is a vacuum problem because the is no vac at starter speed. i keep telling him i dont think it would have any vac at that point small out port on the intake which goes to the distributor and other points. it is a mistry for sure since he and i are mercedes gas engine newbees. a trouble shooting tree would be nice. a do this b do that etc. or should i send it to mercedes heaven? i believe it must be missing a part since it was bought off ebay. i know you guys are going to say sucker. ha ha. but you cant say that about my 2 diesels both 1984,s and my 1994 chevy diesel. thanks for all your help would the vin # help narrow down the no start problem? new fuel pump also installed, has good standing pressure on the fuel line and on the cold start valve line. my hair was gray now i dont have any i pulled it all out.

OK here is your list but looks like you have it covered
1-lack of fuel pressure ( pressure and volume)
2-sticking air flow sensor
3-AAV sicking
4-cold start injector not working
5-defective thermo time switch
6- sticking control plunger
7-restricted injectors

this is from the book how to tune a BOSCH FI system

now then , IIRC your car may have an electrical circuit that fires to shut down the engine electronics in the event of a tip over, seems like there is an electrical connection on the side of the intake?? I could be wrong but take a look. SOmeone else may chime in here

What kind of compression does it have? You could have a cam that jumped timing. If you have compression, spark and fuel it should run, or at least fire enthusiastically. Check a spark plug after trying to start it - if it's real wet, you might have leaking injectors. Leaky injectors can make such a rich mixture that combustion cannot be achieved.

167 psi compression i i seem to remember that the plugs were wet after it tryed to start once or twice. thanks for all the advice. can one bad injector flood out the whole intake? i see the switch on my 77 450sl but not the 84 i wll look at the manual and see if it may have one in the trunck or else where. flooded intake sounds like what we have and many thanks for you and all the guys.

Yes, one injector can do it, if it's leaking badly. You might try holding the accelerator to the floor while cranking, that may give it enough air to clear the intake and let it start, if it is a leaky injector.
