Cool, I didn't know that they called for a retrofit of the 450 badge to a 350 cars. I have seen several that never had it done since they still said 350SL on it, would be interesting to know what the MBCA judges consider correct or if they accept it either way.
I would be relatively sure that MB offers the 350SL badge, or do you know this to be incorrect?

went back this year as a "guest", and it was a fabulous event again. Better weather this year , but I think less cars. Saw some sweet MB's MB had its new Gull Wing there, nice car.

Actually being out of the judging and in the open , Pearl had more visitors...

beautiful car, love the original style wheel covers

I purchased my 92 500 with a similar idea in mind - to have a "survivor" and daily driver. The car is a 2-owner, 105k mile car, no paintwork, period correct except for the wheels, which can always be replaced....

My goal is to keep it in its current condition for another 2 decades or more!

As to future value, everything is speculative, but based on what you see in the shows and what you know about the "survivor" market, do you see miles as critical, or more overall condition? As it sits, I try not to drive it too often, just often enough to keep it in good running order.

Obviously there are a ton of 129s....and 107s for that matter, but I'm sure there are far fewer surviving original cars..

I really think miles are less of an issue, original , survivor that is functional is the key. Miles just add to the charm of a car that is original , running and stillproviding motoring fun, of course that is my take on it.

But you've got to get the model name right. Someday a judge is going to clobber you for calling that a 450SL.

true, I really need to find a 350 badge. I guess if push came to shove I'd pull out the owners manual ( original ) and show them how it got badged as a 450, clear instructions to bring it to the dealers to change out the 350 for a 450 badge...
