What is long black module behind glove box on '87 560 SL?
I have a 1987 560 SL and i have had the glove box out today to run checks on the climate control modules back there. I noticed there was also another long black horizontal mounted module located in front of the climate control modules, almost immediately behind the glove box. It has two plugs going to it, one with approx. 16-18 pins and one with approx. 8-10 pins. For some reasons both plugs were disconnected on my vehicle. Does anybody know what this module is for? My car seems to be running fine without it connected.

Thanks guys. Seems it is a common practice to disconnect this unit when the alarm goes faulty. I will leave it disconnected for now. Anybody know how much a replacement costs?
