Steering Wheel!

Has anyone ever changed out the existing wheel for an all wood wheel. I am not real concerned about the air bag.

I'm looking for an all wood Ferrari Type steering wheel?

I have a nardi wooden steering wheel on my 107 (along with jaguar xj8 seats). I love the feel of the wooden wheel but it does obscure the top of the speedometer

Hi

I have a MOBO half wood/half leather wheel in mine, (Pic attached) makes it easier to get in and out and improves the "look" & the steering.

Cheers

oops you installed it in the wrong side of the car

winecountryone 02-24-2010 04:19 PM

most other wheels are smaller

The Nardi wood wheels look very nice.I had a period AMG wheel for a while. Both were smaller in diameter than the stock one.I got rid of it despite the better "feel" as I got tired of not being able to read the instruments (mostly the speedometer)
I don't know why they put "bus" sized steering wheels on these cars??

I don't know about the wheel but a line on the white guage faces would be appreciated.:D

The closest thing you will find in diameter to the original is probably "390mm", and these seem to be much more expensive.

Ha Ha, though it does make for some confusion when I'm reading stuff on this forum:)

I recall they made the steering wheel so big in case the power steering failed the driver could still maneuver the car. And being good German engineers they surely designed to the worst case tolerance, probably a frail old woman.

I'll probably do a Nardi wood wheel as well but will be a bummer not to see the speedo or the gas gauge (though you always know you need gas in these cars!).

Really? Just for fun, turn your engine off and see how maneuverable the car is w/o power steering. Not the thing for frail old women.

wheel change

Tom:
Please check your state inspection requirements. Possible fail if you remove airbag from a car that was so equipped originally.

Have you tried Performance? $499 zebrano - 699 bur, plus core charge $50.00

If I didn't need a radiator...
