Repair or replace fenders?
4 Attachment(s)
I have a 77 450SL that has rust bubbles at the front edge of the fenders (pics attached). I am looking for advise on whether this is repairable or do I need to buy new fenders?
Thanks 77450slowner |
Go for new ones. That's what I did with mine, and less than yours. Being a euro was very easy to take them off, rather than the US ones that get coated with a rust inhibitor that glues them together.

Your best bet is to try to find good used.
And yes I would replace them not repair. |

This is one of my biggest rants about this car. Unless you bought a 560 or Euro 500, the folks at Benz didn't feel the need to add inner fender panels. Just spray on the old undercoat and call it a day. How much would it have cost to add them to every car, 20 bucks?? Even my 75 Civic had inner fender panels. They are available thru MBz dealers for about $65 a piece, if you replace your fenders think about adding them. Also be prepared to find what I did when the fenders came off. That is a perfect crap trap.
