1995 SL 500 Overheating, Fans won't turn on
Greetings, all. My Dad just purchased a 1995 Mercedes Benz SL500 for $5800. We all thought it was a great price....until the problems started.
The fans will not turn on (even when the AC is turned on). And so, the engine overheats. My Dad has tried "jumping" the fans with car on, and they come on, so its not the fan. He is thinking it may be the relay or the n22 module. Can anyone help with this problem???? Thanks. |

The aux fans will only come on in low speed if the A/C is on and it is warmer than 86F out. To come on at high speed, the A/C pressure has to hit some specified pressure, not sure and the coolant has to hit 105C. I've only ever seen mine on once so far and they are working as intended.
In other words the aux. fan are not the primary cooling mechanism. You should look to other things first, thermostat, fan clutch, radiator, etc. |
