85 280SL Euro AC problems
Just had my 85 280SL Euro AC charged but it still only blows about 68 degrees at the vent. Mechanic says it may need a new expansion valve or he may be able to "clean" the one on there now. When AC system was redone from R12 a few years ago they converted it to Freeze 12 not R134 so I am very limited to where I can take it for service since most shops will not touch Freeze12. ( I didn't own the car when the conversion was done.) Does it sound reasonable to "clean" the expansion valve or should I go for a new one. If I do need a new one does anybody have a part number for this year Euro model? Mercedes can't seem to come up with one. Any other advise appreciated....Desert (PS 104 here in Tucson today, need AC!)

Probably half of the euro SLs had aftermarket AC. Do you know if yours is factory?
If your setup is aftermarket, then your only option may be to clean the existing valve. If it's factory, then the number should be 115 835 00 72. You should tell your parts guy it's right there in the EPC and all he had to do was look in 83/56269, #213.
