Removal of Hyd. cylinders for lifting conv. top

Has anyone done this job on a 1996 or newer 320SL or 500 SL? If so how long can I figure it will take and how bad will the car have to be torn-up? Will the interior panels have to be glued back in place? Thanks for any info.
Jim

Jim,
There's a dozen or so cylinders in the top system including the ones that lift the top compartment, etc. Are you asking for the instructions on how to get them all out, or just the ones that are leaking? You will have to remove panels in several places to get them all, but attachments are screws, panel fasteners, etc., but no glue. Help us help you...what exactly do you want to do.

Bob

I read a post where a guy found the subwoofer was glued down.

There is a huge amount of information on this topic on the 129 forum on benzworld.org.

I did my 1993 Sl500 above the windshield and found a post on here with step by step directions and it was easy. There were two cylinders and I simply bought new ones, should have had them rebuilt at much less cost. I can search my documents and see if I still have link if that helps. I have never done the rear ones though.
