560SL two problems.

Hi,

1987 560sl

I have two problems that may or may not be related.

My number 7 fuse blows as soon as I turn the key. Recently I have replaced a blow more. It blows not but, with that fuse out it is only cool air..also it blows warm air out of the defrost vents (my center vents don't blow at all).

I did check the OVP fuse and it seemed fine.

Also, my idle has been fast since I owned the car. It is mostly at going from park to reverse. So much so that if I don't stand on the break I will burn rubber! I did put in a new Idle control valve, idle control unit and it seemed to be SO much better until the fuse blows. It reads that the fuse also runs the idle stabilizer?

I am SO not a mechanic but, I'm trying to do what I can before taking it in.

Any ideas??

Thanks,
Suzanne

Fuse 7 powers a bunch of climate control stuff separately and through the push-button unit.

The auxiliary coolant pump and mono valve, on the extreme right firewall are common problems, so unplug them one by one, and see if the fuse keeps blowing.

Other suspects are the push-button unit, and temperature control unit. You really need the wiring diagram and component locations to chase this down any further.

Hi Chuck,

I will check the the auxiliary coolant pump and mono valve (after I research what they look like . I did replace the push - button unit right before the blower went out. Actually, I thought the unit was the problem not the motor but, it wasn't the case.

Thanks for your help!
