hello!! 500 motor / suspension performance parts

hello forum

i've just joined here and look forward to some interesting discussions on the 107 vehicle. i have an '85 500SL, all options
and an aftermarket fitted electric roof. i used to be a mechanic in america (virginia beach / norfolk / chesapeake) when i lived there and greatly enjoyed the usa. i now work in tv graphics and build high end computers for video and audio production to satisfy my need to turn wrenches* (*spanners here in the u.k.).

i'm keen to purchase the real MB shop manuals (paper versions) for this car if i can... any idea where? part no.? yes, the CD is a viable alternative but i'd like paper if possible.

most importantly... are there "hot rod" parts available... (cam kits, suspension components, h.d. clutch packs, differential gears etc.)
are most of these made in europe or the usa?

i'm going to work on the car for fun (its already very good) so that i can have dirty fingernails for a change: first things are to pull the motor and trans and upgrade the steering / suspension. the motor i'll do and the trans a shop will do (since the last time i did a tranny was 13 years ago: big block chrysler race stuff).

while that's happening the complete respray after replacing the front quarter panels* (*wings in the UK).

how exciting to find such a good forum. kh.

Kenneth

Take a look at the thread titled "looking for very good book for euro SLC model" and you'l find my comments on workshop manuals.

Good luck.
