Well, I did it
After much deliberation, and the useful, valued insights from many posters on this board, I have become the proud owner of a 2000 SL - CD changer, built in K40 radar detector, integrated digital phone, transparent stone shield across lip of hood, 8000 miles on the odometer-all for $66,500, license, taxes included.
I'm psyched and can't wait for warm weather. |

Congrats!
Post some pics of your new pride and joy when you can stop long enough from driving it!

Consider Virginia Off Limits
You say a built in Radar Detector? Don't drive the car in Virginia, 'cause they're illegal, SP's will ticket you and confiscate the detector (in your case I guess that means the car!!!!). Forget what I said, drive it up here and maybe I can pick it up at the next impound auction for a lot less than the 60g's!

RickyD,
Notice that you are from Roanoke. Me too. What part do you live? I used to live in SW off Brandon Ave. What a small world!!!

Excellent!!!!!!! I know you'll love the car! I too am anxious for the warm weather to come..soon..... However, I am interested in the Invisible Stone Shield you mentioned.......How does this look on the car? Also, what color to you have? Mine is Desert Silver..Great for not showing dust. Also, I used the Zano wax system on the car.....it's the BEST EVER! Good luck with your new SL and welcome to the forum!!!!

The stone shield looks great - meaning you don't even see it unless you're right on top of the car. Even then, you have to look hard. People tell me it's a "must have" and very effective at avoiding small paint chips. The car is brilliant silver with black interior. KPG |
