Aux fan 380SL

Just curious.. When the Aux cooling fan goes on, is it normal for it to make a "racket", i.e a loud apparent noise. I uninstalled it, remounted it thinking that an elastic shock mount was missing. Installed rubber washers under the mounting screws. Checked the bearings.. seemed to be ok. Still makes the same loud rattley noise.

Any comment would be appreciated.. Thanks

It shouldn't make that kind of noise. You should replace it with a new one.

any play in the shaft? , sounds like a bearing issue if you eliminated the mounts
