*** DC "Flaring" While Driving ***

I took the '76 450SLC out yesterday for its 1st run of the year...she smoked a bit for the first 5 or 6 miles, then everything smooooooooothed out...stopped and checked all the fluids about 30 miles later...all the items were right where they were supposed to be.

But...

A little later...closer to sundown, as I'm taking I-90 eastbound and running around 75mph, I would notice the "FASTEN BELT" warning light coming and at the same time there would be a "flaring" (or sudden brightness) to the high-beams...then the "SB" warning light would extinguish and the light level from the highbeams would reduce back to "normal."

Anyone ever experience that similiar situation?

Check alternator output at idle no load, and full load? Could be the regulator. Check the tightness of the main grounds as well?

John: Where are the main grounds located...generally? And how many would I be looking for? I do realize that the battery is in the trunk, so I'll monitor both at the battery as well as the "connection block" under the hood, to see if there are "issues" with connections there as well.

Anyone else want to throw in their $0.50 worth of experience? I'm all eyes and ears...
