Question Jump Seat for 560SL

Hi,

Can someone provide me with information regarding to the jump seat for 560SL? I saw the advertisement from Adsit for the back seat which I think will be great for me since I have 2 small children and I want to take them in my new 560SL. Also, I would appreciate if you can provide me with some installation instruction.

Thanks,

Michael

TNguyen,

I recently purchased and installed a jump seat for my 1982 500sl (euro). I bought it from World Upholstery, but I think that they are all about the same. It installs easily, you just pull out the board that is there now, and the place the cushions in the well, they fit. The back cushion hooks over the back. No tools involved. However, couple of things you should know:
1. It comes with lap seatbelts. There is a hole already in place in the car to screw them in, but there should be 2 holes for each side, and there aren't. So, you either need to drill another hole, or attach both belts to the same one.
2. The seats are very small and narrow, and there is little to no room for legs. I don't know about your kids, mine are small but they ride in car seats/boosters. The seats are too narrow to hold a car seat, and a booster should only be used with an over the shoulder seatbelt, not a lap belt. I have tried to solve this by ordering the only additional belt that works with older cars that only have a lap belt in the back seat (ie older cars). This additional belt is called a 86-y universal harness, and can be ordered from e-z-on products in florida. Haven't installed them yet, so I can't tell you how they work.

Good luck,

Kevin

Wink seat options for 107 body style

I too would like to install a rear seat. I have a 1981 280sl euro, which is the 107 body style. I found a source, you can go to the link. The name is Basic inc, a seat manufacturer. The cost for MXtex is 299 +tax, the leather is 549+tax

SL rear seat

I own a 450SL and have wanted to get my hands on a rear seat for a while.
But, in both the state of OR and WA the laws have changed regarding the use of child seats and booster seats. I don't know the exact age, either 6 or 8 years and younger must be in the approved childseat for age/weight.
With the size of childseats, I can't imagine that one would fit into the back of a 107 SL.
I'm not trying to police the forum, but in the state of OR if a child riding in your car is injured or killed from an accident without the use of the proper childseat/booster side, the driver faces vechical man slaughter charges from the state. This has happened a few times in OR with belted parents and dead children.
So our child will be in the 300SDL until she can ride in the front of the SL, which I believe a childseat can be used in the front if the vechical has no rear seat. We're in no hurry because in no time she'll want the front left seat, the gas card, and us left at home!
I believe there has been great advancements in child safety since the design the those rear seats (early 80's). Personly I don't like the idea for highway use, but they sure look like fun for around the neighborhood.
