Under The Gun
First of all. I want to say there are a amazing amount of threads that I know will help me for the next few months.
I am working on a new TV series for Disney and 1 of the vehicles bought for the show is a 86 560sl tri-black. The vehicle had been in storage for 3 yrs. It started right away and was driven around the block. Satisfied, we purchased it and transported it to a location a hour away. Upon arrival, it would not fire. We had removed the fuel and replaced it with premium but it seemed like something else was amiss. Vehicle had hydrauliced Now, it will idle roughly but no acceleration without backfiring. Cap and rotor are mildly corroded but cleaned up well. Here is my question: Is it possible the timing chain has jumped and to bubblegum the repair for a day, retard or advance the timing? Or could this also be that the air/fuel mixture is off? I am a newby with Bosch systems. I do realize it will need to be seen by a MB or qualified MB tech but this vehicle now plays Monday and i am getting a ulcer |

It's very possible that it jumped a tooth. It shouldn't continue to inject fuel even if you leave the key on without the engine running.
I hope you also changed the engine oil because it will be full of gas. |

Oh yeah....oil, filter a definite. The tow-truck had left key on for steering, pump just ran and ran.
Through trial and error, I have the lope now to a smooth idle but still no acceleration. Vacuum is amazing but have found that removing 1 vacuum line to what appears to be a timing module under the coil evened out the idle and allowed it to remain around 650 rpm. Still no throttle but baby steps |

There is another, very active, site that is dedicated to the 107s that you might want to check into.
http://www.benzworld.org/forums/r-c107-sl-slc-class/ They have a sticky topic that has a LOT of info about these cars, including vacuum diagrams that may be able to help clear up some of your problems. Here is a link to the online CD-ROM Service Manual. http://www.startekinfo.com/StarTek/outside/11883/?requestedDocId=11883 From what I gather about the K-Jet injection system, the fuel pump should NOT run all the time, unless the engine is running; There is supposed to be a signal to the fuel pump relay from an ECU that only has the fuel pump run while the engine is actually running. Someone may have 'jumpered' the FPR to disable this safety feature. Please keep us up on your "Adventure" with this car, and good luck. Scott
