Pearl Has Her Top On. SL Fun

So ol Pearl has not had her coupe top on in some time. This year , in efforts to drive her as much as I can , weather Dependant , I chose to put it on. I really like the looks, as much as the convertible look. I'd say the rag top up is my least favorite, hence the hardtop look.
She is running well but may have an issue cropping up in the rear end, sounds like a differential issue, coming down from speed I hear a rattling , not all the time, so diagnosis is tough.
Oh and I also put on some period correct blackwalls!
In any respect - happy fall , and happy motoring

Hi Lads, how you doing
The hard top does look good alright, far better than the soft top i would have to agree, i did like the white walls you had on before.
I know they are all the same but those earlier 107's have something over the later VIN numbers.
Good luck
Pete

yes it has taken me a bit of time to get use to the blackwalls, but that is the original look according to my build sheet. A bit more aggresive

She is looking fine.

I just removed the HT from my '84 yesterday. More room to work with the top off. Driving a little now but soon to be up on stands. New rear shocks, brake hoses and whatever the front end needs.

Ron,

With cool weather coming soon up here, I should put my hard top on too. It's like a different car - so much quieter.

But then I would have trouble picking up lumber at Home depot! The SL convertible make a great truck when you need to pick up long items!

Ron,

What exhaust tips did you use?
I've got a timevalve stainless steel exhaust on my 280SL, and my tips turn down, I prefer the straight through style...

Jim

Lookin' good MP! I'm holding out until the last minute to put my top on. Already had a few jacket-on/top-down evening rides.

ahh rowdy , looks like fun!.
Jim , I got these straight stainless tips from a local muffler shop, he has been in business a long time, stopped there on a whim and he went back into his storage area and came out with these. They are very high quality and I think they look good. They may be a tad long and I stressed over that for awhile , but have since let it go

I love this ol gal , but I am ready for a new project and I don't have room for everything.
I wish the market was better for these SL's. I know it is a tad better for the younger ones 72-73 but still not where I would be enticed to sell, at least not yet. I'd like to think I could get $12,500 for her , heck she has well over $6000 worth of new parts including a German leather interior, plus a Djet system that works (lol) . She is ..well perfect in my eyes
I'd love to get this into the hands of someone that lived in a climate where she could be driven all the time. I hate to see it sit, and it is too nice to sit. I would also be great to find someone that would add it to their MB collection .
So I am generally getting the word out she is on the market , but realize it may be for years - which is OK too ... haha
now I'm sounding schizophrenic

If I was in the market for a such a nice example I'd be on my way down there.

My modus-operandi is to buy crap ones cheap & then spend a ton on them. lol! Not exactly a brilliant plan... Actually, my new 280C has been restored and it's honestly weirding me out a bit to have one that nice in the garage. Believe me, there are reasons that I shouldn't have nice things...

That is strange. I have the timevalve stainless on my '73 and it has straight pipes out of the muffler.

My originals were straight with rolled lips. I did not like them
