Djet/SL Fuel Consumption?

Hey Guys,

I know this has been covered before, but I just wasted an hour digging & didn't find anything...

What are you all getting as far as MPGs? I just finished my first full tank since resurrecting my 350SL and am curious to see A) How I'm doing as far as MPG vs tuning? and B) How my 3.5L compares to the US 4.5's?

I got about 15.5mpg on mixed highway & city (and I am totally a lead-foot now that she's running great!).

Of course, I still need to test the accuracy of my odometer on the highway one of these days too...

Thoughts?

I'm also curious to know the difference btw the early 3spd auto & the later (still Djet) 4spd auto. UNless I'm mistaken & the 4spd didn't com out until the 380 did...

And it's a damn hard car not to NOT to lead foot. lol.

D-Jet on the SL ended with the 1975 MY. As far as I know there were no D-Jet engines with a 4 speed auto. And the 4 speed auto will not bolt to the M116 or M117 iron blocks.
