Idiot alert!! please help

i have a1987 560sl and i was unsure about a slow drain to the battery, so i've been disconnecting it. i have reconnected the battery several times without incident, until today. for whatever reason when i connected the battery the doors locked and....wait for it.....the key is now locked in the car
soooooo, is there anyway to undo this or do i need to get a locksmith here to let me in??
thanks in advance

I'm guessing that the soft top isn't down.....

And your spare key is.....

Just don't close the hood...at least you'll have some access....

Hey Hog!!!

Spare key...on a ring...in the house...or a "de-headed" Valet key in the wallet.

Works for me! (Too many times to count!!!)

may be worth the 30, locked keys inside require large drills, not may locksmiths have a clue about these older MB's Very difficult to break into as well

For a "cheap" key, your local Premium Locksmith should be able to get you a wallet key for chump-change, but the difference is with the cheap key, the metals used are softer, therefore you'll wear down the key at a faster rate and the wearing will leave small, metal shavings in your lock. Thereby, eventually requiring expensive repair work.

$30.00 is pretty cheap insurance...and you'll keep from tearing up the keyway with the cheaper stuff.

GL!

$30 for a key could well be a bargain when you desperately need one.

I don't think you'll get a local locksmith to make one for that model SL for much if any less, if at all.

According to my sources: a local locksmith does not stock MB keys, only the MB dealer does and has to get the key setting according to the VIN. One single key costs + $50.

Wait, Wait Is he still locked out?????

I thought he got in through the trunk by activating the vacuum motor? I have a quick way of getting into the trunk. Small drill no damage.

My local (and cheap) key maker did me one for £5 (less than $8 US) - no problem and it works better than the original MB key supplied with the car!! I realise I'm in the UK but the key blanks come from China so they should be pretty well universally available

cheers

Jim
