1988 560sl

i have a 560sl with 167,000 miles and i have a few more issues with it
#1 is cruise cont i had it working once and it lasted about four miles then shut down never to go again any suggestions? also does anyone have any info on odmeter cable replacement like do you have to pull steering wheel to get to it? does inst panel just unsnap and lay on streeing wheel base
the car run good don't know how much has been done to it like timing chain it came to me from calif. bought new at fletchers so any good info
would be welcome i am not a mech at all maybe small things also does any one know where i could get a repair book for this car i cannot find one anywhere i do have a cd but its hard to follow not to clear pics

Steering wheel has to come of to remove the cluster. No cable involved with odometer. Do a search for odometer gear replacement.

If you don't know when the timing chain guides and chain were last serviced you need to at least inspect them and check for stretch on the chain.

Your "Cruise" problem is almost certainly caused by dry joints in the Cruise control module (do a search on this forum). I understand that it's a PIG to get to on a LHD car (piece of cake on my RHD UK model ) but the repair is "just" a matter of re-soldering the PCB .

ok thanks for info just where is module located is it by the emg brake handle?
