1972 4.5. 192 HP DIN. 1973 4.5. 190 HP SAE Net. Virtually the same. The difference is DIN V. SAE.

I never thought you'd sell that motor, still looks the red setters rude bits whether it's a 350 or a 450, gonna be hard to make the next one look as good.
Good luck

Nice car to be letting go of. I would loose the 03 Saturn first. Good luck on whatever you decide.

I seriously can't believe that.

If only I was wearing the financial trousers in my house I'd be arranging shipping right now. Seriously I'd buy unseen even though you do owe me that cup of coffee that I doubt I'll ever collect!

350SL and some possible future projects

deanyel - agree with comments 100%

I have 3 of these all badged 350SL and prefer the "journey" - if they were badged 450SL - I would have never purchased them - need an upside these days

All said and done - I'll pickup a 1st or 2nd owner R129 1999-2002 era with 3 valves per cylinder 330 hp (bose stereo system) xenon lights maybe even heated seats and never have to manually remove a top ever again! Then again after driving two or 3 summers I'll probably get tired of it and ponder as to next journey! pagoda? Jeep CJ5 conversion? Jeep Liberty conversion? I know the 5 cylinder will fit in a CJ5 (seen it done this past winter) not sure about Jeep Liberty - any thoughts

Anyone ever think of a lime green metallic R107 with black interior and green piping, with custom chrome headers, two tone door panels, with wheels similar to old style fenton rockets?, perhaps a hood scoop with functional ram air? Decent Stereo with IPOD port or flash drive. Wonder if new generation would take an interest??

Unless you want to use the hard top, then...

Why would you not buy a '72 107.044 with a 450SL badge? It can be changed very easily. Is your '73 a 107.043?

The modifications you suggest would make a fine addition to this thread.

So where do I stand in this argument with an actual 107.043?

But seriously MP, best of luck with sale. If I didnt have so bloody much into my 350SL (time and/or money ) I'd be calling you up. You've been an unbelievable help to so many of us fighting to keep these early 107's on the road, so you (and Pearl) deserve to find the right buyer.

What are you doing with the parts car? lol!

Thanks for the props, I won't go away if she is sold, I love the old MB's so I will be here to lend a hand , part or theory ( lol) . Beleive it or not I have a hankering for a Fintail, hhmm lets see- 185 HP to 100 or so

Actually have parts boxes now, the frame finnaly made it to the knackers, even that was hard for me to do , but not much was left. My original manual in this car has a note in it that it was possible the car came with a 350 badge and if you wanted to that you could request a 450 badge from the dealers. Mine has a 1971 build date , 641 off the line, so she is very early in production. I think she was a very early import
