Cable for soft top
 

Anybody know how to get this cable in? How much of the top will I have to dismantle to get at it?

Without going out and checking on mine (It's winter and the hardtop is on).

I assume you mean the tensioner that goes above the side windows. The tensioner wire should have eyelets that secure on the top frame at each end of the wire, and as the top closes, the wire tightens, and holds the edge of the top snug with the frame.

There should be a sewn sleeve for the cable and sometimes on a new top you need to cut a hole at each end of the sleeve to feed the cable through. Sometimes the sleeve is open, sometimes sewn shut depending upon how the top was made.

This is not SPECIFIC R107 advice necessarily, but the generic way I've seen it done on many convertible tops I've installed over the years.

The wire goes through a sleeve on the edge of the top. But if you try to push it through, it will buckle because it is hard to push on a rope!

Assuming that is what you are asking about, the way to do it, is to get some cheap plastic tubing with ID that will accept the wire. Slip the tubing over the wire. Then you will find it easy to push teh wire through the sleeve and get the eye aligned with the screw hole.

You don't have to dismantle anything to get old wires out. Just take out those front screws and slacken clamping nut at back end. It old wire is broken inside, you can push it out from exterior of sleeve.

It is a GOOD THING to replace these. I reused mine on my top and have regretted it; and it's an even worse PITA to do once the top is done.
