2000 SL ignition key > door lock > will not open/close windows.

This is my second 2000 SL and the first one had this feature as a convenience.

ignition key > door lock > will lock/unlock doors.

ignition key > door lock > will not open/close windows.

Battery and fuses are OK. Windows open/close from the inside switches OK. Is there something I have missed/forgotten in order to turn on this feature?

Or, which module do I need to check in order to fix the auto opening/closing of my windows with an ignition key in my door lock?

Is it the Roadster Soft Top Module or the Infrared Remote Control Locking (IRCL) control module = N54?

Thanks in advance, Lynn

Are the windows synched to the controller? ( Do the windows drop a inch or so when you open the door? ) For my 97 the window up buttons are held for 3 seconds to let the controller know the window is fully up.

Yes, windows are synchronized. Which control module is responsible for the opening/closing 'convenience' of the windows by a key in the exterior door lock? RST or IRCL (N54)

I'll have to look at some of my docs. In the mean time, use the remote key fob to unlock the door but keep holding the button , the windows should go down. ( conversely when locking the windows will go up if the button is held.)

If it does the window computer is probably OK.

Another test would be to lock the door by key and see if the alarm system arms ( blinking LED on dash below radio. ) and unarms by key. If this works, the key switch in the door is probably OK.

When using the key fob I am unable to open/close the windows.

Which window computer are you referring to?

I'm generically calling it a "window computer" , next time I get to wiring diagrams I'll have a look at the system.

Is this enabled on all cars? On my BMW this is part of comfort access and can be switched on and off. When I bought my car it was disabled my good friend is a BMW Indy and using his computer he enabled a lot of comfort access functions for me.
