Climate Control Panel Replacement 560SL

Hey Folks-

The climate control panel on my 87 560SL seems to have come loose from the wood panel and is sinking into the console. Does anyone have a manual recommendation for minor repairs like this? Something that would describe how to remove panels, replace sun visors, door moldings...something skewed towards less technical repairs and more cosmetic/novice repairs?

Thanks
Rich Zerbo

they are not easy to relaminate, the removal is pretty straught forward - remove knobs and iknob securing bases. Remove ash tray and center console ( top) to expose the attachment screws. Id search for a replacement just in case you cannot relaminate or the backing is toast
Picture would help us as well

Once you get the panel out

There are many existing threads on panel removal. Use SEARCH.

Upon panel removal, you will find that the control is affixed to the wood panel by screws that have probably pulled out or the wooden blocks they screw into have split or come unglued.

Replace those wooden blocks by cutting new ones and glue and clamp them securely, then remount your control. Drill small pilot holes for your screws so they don't split the new blocks.

You may also

want to cut some foam or use wooden blocks to take the weight of the control rather than having it be fully supported by the panel screws.
