As you have probably read elsewhere on this forum both the mono valve diaphragm and electro magnet quite often fail. The electro magnet had failed on my car. I was lucky to get a good one from a wrecked car and now have regulated heat. As far as I know there are no vacuum lines going to the mono valve. Electrical and water hoses only.

Actually, thru all of the reading I had done I have not run across anything mentioning the electro magnet, and honestly it had never even occurred to me. I had recently replaced the monovalve insert. Over the weekend I thought I'd check it again. The diaphragm is not torn and the valve seems to move as expected. I had an old insert with a torn diaphragm. I removed the bottom seal and just put that back in. I have not been on a highway but I have had heat since doing this. I was chasing a vacuum problem because I thought the monovalve was good. Certainly looks now that the manget could have failed. Have not had much time to look but a brief search did not turn up anything as far as purchasing a replacement magnet. Any idea of a replacement part number. I appreciate the response.

I do not have any info on the part number for the electro magnet of the mono valve. I got lucky and took an entire mono valve from a wrecked car and it worked great.

The EPC labels the mono valve repair kit a magnet. Part number 000 835 06 44.

Thanks, I appreciate all of the responses. I did see that part number. It comes up as the insert most of the time. I have found some instances where it comes up as lifting magnet and the prices is about 7 times the others. However, there is never a picture when that is the case. I'll keep looking.

I am guessing that a new complete mono valve (includes new electro magnet) is probably in excess of $500 from MBZ. The cost for a used one at a Pick a Part is less than $20. Hopefully you will get lucky like I did and find a good one. I would make sure and take your part number as they may use the same mono valve on different models of Mercedes.
