instrument controls

Hi,On my 86 300SL there's one toggle switch and one dial that I don't know what their for. The switch is in the verticle center part on the shift console with three arrows going clockwise and the dial is next to the headlight switch with numbers going from 0 to 3. Since I don't have an owner's manual any help would be greatfully appreciated. I had a 65 Caddilac with an automatic headlight dimmer, could that be what the dial does? Thanks and Happy New Year!

I think the switch is for cabin air recirculate and the dial is euro headlight aiming control (up/down) vacuum powered. That's what they are on my 85 euro SEC.

Thanks. I think mine's been changed to domestic headlights because it looks like at some time it was hit in the front. It now has the four round headlights, correct me if I'm wrong but I don't think they're European. I'll have to see if the dial makes a difference. Greg.

The dial is for the Euro head light setting. As weight is added to the car (passengers and cargo) and the rear sags....the dial can be turned to keep the headlights on the road and not the trees.

It will NOT be connected to the US version head lights.

Post a pic of the toggle switch on the climate control panel. Doesn't sound familiar to me. Euros can be equipped with several different climate control systems.

A toggle or a rocker switch?

Never seen a OEM toggle switch.
