6.9 Liter, R107 conversion

I've been looking around the forum to see if anyone has put a 6.9 engine in an R107. Is this possible? Are the blocks/bell housings the same?

450slc 6.9

Anyone knows what happened or where is a black euro lorinser equipped 450slc with a 6.9 engine that I tried to buy from a buyer in Maryland years back; car had Maryland plates: "Das Boat"? Last sighting by someone was at a car show in Pennsylvania where famous converter of MB's (Don't remember his name right of hand) had 280 3.5 coupe and also a 3.5 convertible converted with a 6.3 engine in it.

you could easily build an M117/116 to the same power level. although probably less torque. but 300HP is easy with an M117.

I have seen a 6.9 in a W107 possibly on a car based in Europe; it was a very tight fit and the air conditioner was "impossible". I don't think that the 4-speed transmission of the 80's will bolt up to the 6.9 block.
