Went over today, it turned about one revolution, started and ran like a champ.

Well, every day so far, starts right up and I let it warm up before I shut it off. Very strange affair.

Please cite an example of that happening.

Sounds to me like you have a bad fuel pressure regulator (top, back of engine), or the return line to the tank is clogged.

Same basic stuff has happened to my 77' 450sl. I went through every thing mentioned and ended up with a hydrolic lock caused by excessive fuel filling up a cylinder during cranking. Not one of my brighter moments!
Short version! I discovered corrosion under the distributor cap and on the rotor also after pulling the rotor the distributor shaft was found to be rusty! fixing a neglected car is FUN! Put all together and checked/cleaned all electrical connections under the hood and it startled me when after 1/2 a revolution the thing started! All seems to be well now. Several years of neglect, non-use and living out side caused by a previous owner make for a very GRUMPY 450sl! |
