Help with aftermarket power convertible top!
Hello all, is anyone familiar with the "Auto Top" power convertible top? I have an 86 560SL with a one of their units installed. It worked perfectly--up until it didn't. As it sits the top is 75% of the way down. Hitting the switch in either direction does nothing, there is no sound from the motor.
The company doesn't seem to exist anymore, so there is no wiring diagram to be found. Can anyone offer some assistance with this? |

You're likely on your own with this one. The number of units sold were quite small and the number that failed and were subsequently removed are probably getting close to that same number.
General troubleshooting process would encompass checking the fuse first. If the fuse is good put power directly to the motor to see if it works. If it doesn't replace. If it does, check the switch. Use a length of wire to bypass the switch. If it activates the motor the switch is bad. Check power at the switch. If it has power the problem is between the switch and the motor, and if not it's between the battery and the switch. Other than that, hope someone else chimes in that actually has one, and if so, go out and buy a lottery ticket....you're exceptionally lucky.

Basic troubleshooting as Mach4 suggested is your best route to take.
