R107 rear brakes?

Hey guys,

I've been asked to help a lady change the brakes on her 560SL. I drove the car and it has a horrendous metal on metal scrawl. I have a couple questions:

Any special tools required to get the calipers or rotor off?

How about the pads? Just pins?

Does the emergency brake gizmo need to be turned in with a special tool or is it a drum style?

I ask because this is an out of town job and I need to take everything with me and be totally prepared when I arrive.

Any helpful hints would be welcome.

Thanks!

If you are familiar with 114, 115, 116, 123, 126, then you know everything there is to know: pins in the pads, two bolts in the caliper, maybe a screw in the rotor, internal expanding park brake. The 107, is, after all, just a short 114.

only thing I would add, if original you may run chance of a stuck caliper and rusty brake lines oh and take a can of PB blaster ,that allen nut on the caliper cna be a bear..

So, to sum it up: I'll need a standard set of metric sockets and maybe an extension to remove the caliper, a large phillips or impact phillips driver to remove the rotor screw and something to drive the pad pins out?

Or, are the caliper bolts hex cap screws? Is there any need to release the parking brake assembly?

Is there only one version of brake? On my W210, there is a 2 pin version and a 1 pin version depending on the year.

Thanks again.

Parking brake is internal to hub. Don't need to mess with it unless you plan to adjust. The older MBs have only one style pad IIRC. Mine were bolts but I had a 72. The later may have had hex. If so probably 10 or 13
