Smart Key 2005 SL "no key detected message"

Okay I have a 2005 R230, I received a key low battery light, I changed both keys batteries, now the smart start will not work anymore. The doors open and lock with the keys, and the keys when inserted into the ignition will start the car.

( I pressed the unlock button on the smart key twice followed by inserting the smart key in the ignition and turning to run)
I tried this several times but I am still getting the "no key detected message" when I press the smart go button.

The manual states hold the lock and unlock button down simultaneously for 6 seconds this will return the car to factory settings. I tried this several times and it still do not work.

The keys worked fine before I change the batteries in the keys.
Any more suggestions?

Try disabling one key by removing the battery and then reprogram the other key.

You need to have the keys re-written into the Keyless Go ECU. I've seen this happen a few times. Your dealer will probably charge you an hour's labor.

I have an appointment with the dealer, I will let you know, thanks.

I packed up both keys heading to the stealership, and you wouldn't guess,( with both keys in the car, one worked) the Keyless Go system started to work. No need for this trip .

Perhaps, having both keys in the car made a difference.

Thanks for the inputs.
