560SL seat question

I removed by 1987 SL seats but I unbolted the part where the big spring attaches on the bottom. Not sure how the seats would come out otherwise, but nevermind. My question is, how do i get the springs reattached? Do I bolt in both brackets and stretch the spring (looks very difficult), or somehow leave the spring attached and try and get the last bracket in (looks hard too). Its a big spring, which says it might leave a mark... Any help or guidance is appreciated.

Bolt it back in and stretch the spring. Yes it is hard to do. Years ago I made a tool to do it when someone made the same mistake on another year 107.

Seat removal is covered in the manual. On the 560SL it is six bolts. None involves removing that spring.

Several suggestions for remove/install spring here: http://www.benzworld.org/forums/r-c107-sl-slc-class/1656159-107-seat-adjuster-spring-removal-tool.html
