1983 500 SL Break pressure is very firm and no vaccume locks
I'm wondering if I'm experience a vaccume issue of sorts on this car. I recently had various cooling hoses replaced under the hood and wonder If there a specific vaccume line that I might check. The brakes stop the car but it seems like it takes longer and the pedal feel is quit firm. Also, and hopefully maybe connected to the same problem, the vaccume locks are not opperating. Where should I check first? Thanks, Nick.

Where is the needle on the economy gauge at idle? Should be all the way to the left. Anywhere else is an indication of vacuum leak. Hard pedal is a sign of brake booster not working. Check the vacuum line to it. There is a plastic check valve that is brittle after 33 years and is easy to break

could also be a collapsed brake line, they fail from the interior. Had it happen on my 72

Could be but central locking system not working points to vacuum issue.
