Rear Shocks - no Front Shocks
Recently I replaced the rear shocks and springs on my 450SL. It was the typical BilStein HD replacement. They did not do the front and I'm wondering if anyone has experience with any ill-effects from NOT replaceing the fronts also. I have relatively low miles (113K)

Sorry but no answer to your question.
You said that you changed the rear springs. What brand did you use and how much difference do they make?

I used Bilstein HD's. Cosmetically, along with the springs, makes levels out the rear and looks very stately. Overall the ride seems rough but not sure what the relationship is to this maintenance item...

Hey Mark, is the stiffness objectionable? I ask because when I replaced the Bilsteins on my '79 450SL I did'nt know and wasn't told there were such things as HD. I went with the comfort on all fours. I prefer a stiffer ( sportier ) ride. How much were the new springs? Have you replaced your rear sub-frame bushings and differential mount?
