380SL Problems

I purchased a 1983 380SL that had been sitting for 4 years and I am trying to get it running again. At first it would not start at all so I did the following:

Clean out gas tank
Replaced fuel pump
Replaced fuel filter
Replaced fuel pressure regulators
Replaced Coil
Replaced EZL Ignition Control Module
Replaced Warm up Regulator

The car will sometimes start now, but it will not hold idle. Afterwards it is very difficult to start it again.

What do you think the problem is? What should I look at next?

Red face

welcome. Well it could be a lot of things and best to check and repair one system at a time , these ol Kjets sytems can be tricky
The first thing to do is to do a basic "tune up" Timing, points , plugs, make sure injectors are all spraying and working, then go into fuel pressures, and all of the "other stuff"
I can PDF you a file that may help , , but the basic tune up is first .does yours have Lamda ? ( O2 sensors)?
the 380 that year also had single timing chain , not a good design, read lots here and if you hear a chain slap , turn her off. Perhaps it has been taken care of by a PO.

Drop tank and have it cleaned and relined. What does the tank screen look like? You will have to go thru every bit of the fuel system to insure it is clean. I had one in the shop that I ended up having to go thru the entire fuel system including replacement of the air flow meter. Luckily I was able to find a good used one on ebay.
