wont keep running
I am new to the MB cars. Bought a 560sl 1989. It had been sitting for 5 years in my neighbors carport. I changed all fluids, fuel filter. Put some Marvel mystery oil in cylinders, let set a few days. Turned it over with plugs out. Put in new plugs. Syphoned out old gas, put in new gas. Tried to start, wont start. Checked plugs for spark. Finally poured a little gas in air cleaner. Started right up and sounded great. As soon as that gas burned it quit running. Did that several times, runs great then dies. Where do I go from here.

While I am far from an expert, if it were me I would be checking the Fuel pump and filter as it sounds like the fuel is not getting to the FD.

timm has it right for openers; there are two areas to check: 1) fuel supply, and 2) fuel metering.
fuel supply: pumps(2), filter, accumulator, and pump relay fuel metering: fuel distributor & air flow meter, fuel pressure regulator, injection valves (nozzles). |

pull an injector and crank, see if there is gas , or use cold start valve , and be careful
